This book, containing carefully selected cases of the Higher Courts of Tanzania, is but a furtherance of the much-celebrated heritage under the Common Law of the precedent. Precedent spans a couple of centuries and a practicing lawyer, as well as a student of common law, cannot avoid using it in support of the principle of law he/she is advancing. This book will, therefore, become a ‘handbook’ to whoever wishes to grasp the laws of Tanzania.

This collection of decided cases illustrates the intellectual lineage of the authors and their esteemed commitment to share this work with their fellow professionals. The reported cases are carefully selected from a number of cases that are decided each year, covering a number of selected subjects, which are frequently before those Higher Courts of Tanzania – the Court of Appeal of Tanzania (until now the highest court of the land) and the High Court of Tanzania.
